INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED AUTHOR AND CORRESPONDENT CONFIRMS GREAT BEND APPEARANCE
Word has been received from The Washinqton Post and Random House confirming that T.R. Reid, internationally acclaimed author, correspondent, and media commentator, will visit Great Bend during the October 12, 13 & 14 Jack Kilby weekend. It was Reid, who in 1984 first recognized the yet-to-be realized stupendous impact of the integrated circuit (microchip), and the genius of Jack Kilby. 
Reid's book "The Chip" tells this unbelievable story Worldwide distribution of the new-updated "The Chip" by Random House will be this Fall, with the first release of the book to be here in Great Bend as a part of the Kilby weekend.
Reid, present London Bureau Chief of the Washington Post, will fly from London to Great Bend especially for the event. Kilby is aware of Reid's visitation during this weekend at which time the two friends will meet once again, with a part of their reunion to involve the Great Bend release and book-signing of Reid's Book "The Chip".
